This can be a standard paper format like A4 or any custom format. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The extent will be shown in the drawing area and the area outside will be grayed out. This is helpful, for example, when you&#8217;re creating a layout for a map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/DefineExtents.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shop.ocad.com\/web\/image\/37937-b2542172\/DefineExtents.webp?access_token=1c92411e-a916-4ba2-a69e-529169a8bdd9\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to use an extent for exporting and printing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have saved an extent, it is also available both in the export dialog (Menu File > Export > Load extent) and in the print dialog (Menu File > Print > Part of map > Set Up\u2026).
