OCAD 12 offers many new features and numerous improvements, which facilitate map-making and thus your work.<\/p>\n<h1>Smart Editing Tools<\/h1>\n<p>Several new smart editing tools have been added, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Move object segments<\/li>\n<li>Move building corners keeping rectangular angles<\/li>\n<li>Remove multiple vertices with a brushing action<\/li>\n<li>Show draft line when moving\/stretching\/rotating an object<\/li>\n<li>Move single line or area vertex with arrow keys<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Generalization Tools<\/h1>\n<p>Several new generalization tools either for rectangular features (e.g. buildings) and for line features (e.g. contour lines) have been added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/tools_en.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-229\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/tools_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"860\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/tools_en.png 860w, https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/tools_en-300x77.png 300w, https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/tools_en-624x160.png 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h1>Irregular Pattern<\/h1>\n<p>Representing area symbols (e.g. forest or scree) with irregular patterns. Structure elements can be cut or displayed completely at the border line.<\/p>\n<h1>Topology<\/h1>\n<p>Several new tools for adjusting topology have been added:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remove duplicate vertices<\/li>\n<li>Cut lines at intersections and\/or insert point objects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Step-by-Step Wizard for DEM<\/h1>\n<p>LiDAR and DEM data are becoming more important for creating topographic maps. A step-by-step wizard helps you to analyze them and create hill shadings, contour lines, cliffs and vegetation height. Moreover you can lay profiles to analyze intermediate LiDAR impulses.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/las_profile.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-228\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/las_profile.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"566\" height=\"185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/las_profile.png 566w, https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/las_profile-300x98.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 566px) 100vw, 566px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Docking Panels<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.71429;font-size: 1rem\">The symbol box and other tool boxes can be detached and placed anywhere.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Time Stamp for Objects<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Objects get a time stamp when created or edited which can be looked up.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>64-bit Version<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>OCAD 12 will also be available in a 64-bit version for better handling of background files and any other large files.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Multiple Representation <\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Multiple representation enables the creation and display of cartographic objects at different locations (e.g. text label displacements) and different map styles.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Automation with XML Scripts<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Mapping processes can be automated with easily created XML scripts. It is also possible to use XML scripts to create thematic maps.<\/p>\n<p>The OCAD 12 Beta test version is available free of charge to all current users of OCAD 11 Orienteering Standard or Professional.
