{"id":1773,"date":"2023-10-17T08:43:57","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T06:43:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/?p=1773"},"modified":"2023-10-17T08:44:36","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T06:44:36","slug":"compare-two-ocad-files","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/2023\/10\/compare-two-ocad-files\/","title":{"rendered":"Compare two OCAD files"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This blog post is about how to compare 2 versions of an OCAD file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What are possible ways to find out what has changed at object level between two versions of a file?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#01: Select by Date<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can select objects by their<em> Creation date<\/em> or <em>Modification date<\/em> in the menu <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ocad.com\/wiki\/ocad\/en\/index.php?title=Select#Select_Objects_by_Date\" target=\"_blank\">Select &gt; Select by date<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will get a list of all objects which have been created or modified during a specified period of time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It&#8217;s possible to sort the values in the list by double clicking on the top row.<\/li><li>Click on a object in the list to move the view to the corresponding object.<\/li><li>You can save this selection, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ocad.com\/wiki\/ocad\/en\/index.php?title=Select#Reload_Selection\" target=\"_blank\">reload<\/a> it and loop through it with the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ocad.com\/wiki\/ocad\/en\/index.php?title=View#Find_Selected_Objects\" target=\"_blank\">Find Selected Objects<\/a> icon.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/SelectedByDate.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/SelectedByDate.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1791\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/SelectedByDate.png 580w, https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/SelectedByDate-300x155.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#02: Load as background map<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another method is a visual inspection by loading one map as a background map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Open one version, e.g. <em>B\u00fcrenflue_V01<\/em>.<\/li><li>Go to menu <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ocad.com\/wiki\/ocad\/en\/index.php?title=Background_Map\" target=\"_blank\">Background Map &gt; Open<\/a>.<\/li><li>Open the other version as background map, e.g. <em>B\u00fcrenflue_V02<\/em>.<\/li><li>Go to menu View, set the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ocad.com\/wiki\/ocad\/en\/index.php?title=View_Mode#Draft_Mode\" target=\"_blank\">Draft Mode<\/a> and adjust the transparency for the map and the background map with the slider.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/OpenAsBackgroundmap.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"312\" src=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/OpenAsBackgroundmap.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1790\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/OpenAsBackgroundmap.png 580w, https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/OpenAsBackgroundmap-300x161.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#03 Tile window<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also open both files and tile the window vertically for visual inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Open both versions, e.g. <em>B\u00fcrenflue_V01<\/em> and <em>B\u00fcrenflue_V0<\/em>2.<\/li><li>Go to menu <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ocad.com\/wiki\/ocad\/en\/index.php?title=Window\" target=\"_blank\">Window &gt; Tile &gt; Vertically<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/TileWindow.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/TileWindow.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1789\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/TileWindow.png 580w, https:\/\/ocad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/TileWindow-300x155.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This blog post is about how to compare 2 versions of an OCAD file.
