OCAD for Single User vs. OCAD for Teams

OCAD licenses can be purchased as Single User or Team licenses.

What is the difference? How can the licenses be used?

  • Single User license

Single User licenses are suitable for individual users who want to work on multiple devices.

The user of a Single User license can install the software on 1 device by default. In order to allow the use on several own devices at the same time (e.g. desktop pc, laptop, tablet for field work), further activations for own devices will be granted by OCAD on request. Please contact info@ocad.com in this case.

  • Team license

Team licenses are suitable for clubs and organizations where many users work with OCAD.

Unlike Single User licenses, a Team license can only be activated on one device at a time, but the users can transfer their license immediately and at any time to another person.

The licenses can also be installed in a Dropbox or OneDrive folder, which is shared with the users. When a user starts OCAD now, he can activate one of the available licenses. Thanks to the Deactivate this license automatically when closing OCAD option, Team licenses are automatically released again after a user closes OCAD.

More information about the OCAD subscription open can be found here.

Improved transfer of OCAD Team licenses

If OCAD Team licenses are transferred frequently, it can happen that a license gets “lost”. This can happen, for example, if a user does not correctly transfer or block the Team license.

Users of Team licenses can now select the option Deactivate this license automatically when closing OCAD in the License Manager. This will automatically release the Team license when OCAD is closed. The license must then be reactivated when OCAD is started again.

Move and duplicate objects parallel

The latest OCAD Service Update brought improvments to the function Move Parallel, with which you can move a line parallel to the original line.

  • Hold the ALT key down to select the next object to move.
  • Press Shift+Ctrl key to duplicate object while moving parallel.

The new features are explaint in a short video on our YouTube Channel.

Route Analyzer in use

The Swiss Sprint Champs 2019 were held last Sunday in Stans. Course setter Peter Tschümperlin offered challenging courses with many interesting route choises.

The Elite Courses with the shortest routes and alternatives can be found on https://www.ocad.com/en/route-analyzer/

Swiss Sprint Champs 2019

The Route Analyzer helped Peter Tschümperlin to find interesting route choises and optimise them.

Furthermore, the calculation of the shortest possible length for each course was considered to be very useful. Measuring them manually would have been a huge extra effort.

Last but not least, a map with the routes of all courses helped to support the planning of the road safety and also for agreements with the authorities.

ISSprOM 2019

The latest mapping standard for sprint orienteering maps, called ISSprOM 2019, has been published by the International Orienteering Federation (IOF). The document can be downloaded from the IOF website.

OCAD has implemented the new standard in their symbol sets, which you get with the latest Service Update. The ISSprOM 2019 is valid from 1 January 2020. Until then, the current ISSOM 2007 is still in use.

In order to keep track of all the different symbol sets that have been released lately, we created the Wiki page Symbol Set Overview. There you’ll also learn how to convert your maps to the new standards.
